SIP JAM

:: SIP believes Socrates was onto something when he said "I cannot teach anybody anything, I can only make them think."

SIP Jam is a simple experiment to foster constructive conversation.

:: SIP Jam ::

  • The 7 week process of SIP is based on fostering a self-reflective, self-learning environment.
  • Through SIP Jam, we hope to create a simple and similar opportunity for those who are interested in engaging with such a process.
  • We look forward to your contributions during SIP Jam and beyond.

:: SIP Jam is for you :-) ::

SIP Jam is open to all who genuinely seek to understand and push their thinking.

:: How does SIP Jam work? ::

  • SIP Jam's will last upto 45 minutes and will take a simple prompt on a simple idea/subject/experience/commentary and ask participants to constructively contribute to those sessions.
  • These periodic sessions will be hosted on skype. Please send a skype invitation to hssuk-sip if you would like to join.
  • The prompt for SIP Jam will be sent out at least 24 hours before the call. We will try to send a brief follow up of the call out too.
  • Basic etiquette of conversation and conference calls is expected by all participants.
  • The conveners of SIP Jam will moderate sessions to maintain the flow.

The nature of SIP Jam will largely be dialogue based - no direct action is expected (although it is welcome)

SIP Abhyas Vargs and activities create an experience of ideas we seek to explore through the programme.
And that 'experience-element' is where the difference between SIP Jam and the programme is.

:: What SIP Jam asks from you? ::

  • When you enter a SIP Jam session we ask that you leave any preconceived notions outside the session.
  • - they will be there for you to collect (if you wish to) when you finish.
  • We believe that constructive contribution begins first and foremost with listening.
  • We ask that your contributions be concise and presented from ones own subjective viewpoint and personal experiences or knowledge.
  • We do not look for text book answers and hence there is no right answer - simply an alternative.
