Happiness is a mood, not a destination.

Sat working on my presentation in the lounge while my sister was watching television was rather distracting but at one moment I heard a speech by one of the characters in the American programme she was watching that caught my attention. "Happiness is a mood. It's a condition, it's not a destination. It's like being tired or hungry -- it's not permanent, It comes and goes and that's ok. And I think if people thought about it that way, they'd find happiness a lot more often."

How often have you thought that you'll be happy when you're married with kids and living in a big house? How often have you thought that you'll be happy when you've won this award or that match? I know I've been exactly like that and thought along those lines. But then what about when you're sad? We all know when we are in different moods but do we recognise these moods as such or constantly think of situations that put us in those moods, hence making them a destination?

There is so much we do in daily life that changes our mood and when in a bad mood we think of what to do that might make things better and put us into a good, happy, mood. How much of the time we spend doing stuff though is spent for the better? There is a lot that can be done for Sangh that can improve not only our own mood but the moods of all those involved with the organisation. It just needs people to take the initiative and actually carry out some sort of action.
