At any one time there are many thoughts invading our minds. Is it possible to keep a clear mind- a mind where thoughts do not simply seep in and out when they feel? A mind where you are in control?
Practising meditation, morning and night through the course of SIP has made me conscious of how many thoughts I process at any one moment in time. Sitting in my room for 10 minutes in utter silence with few/no thoughts running through my mind has allowed me to relax and get in to the correct mindset to begin and end the day. But is that it for the day- sitting in silence for 10 minutes?
Meditation doesn’t stop there. Every task carried out requires a certain level of focus- attention; the ability of having a clear mind enables one to focus on the task at hand, allowing us to perform to the best of our ability; this is also meditation. There are many methods in which meditation can be employed but the true test is to employee it within your own life.
“We tend to think of meditation in only one way. But life itself is a meditation.” –Raul Julia.

Hi Rosie
ReplyDeleteFirstly you will definately get the recipe whenever you like for the curry.
Secondly reading this made me think further that the human mind is so complex and it has many functions such as a minimal capacity range for short term memories to a capacity range for long term memories which is limited.
Your experience with meditation for even 10 minutes shows how much of an impact it has on freeing your inner mind and that meditation a key component to a peaceful mind.
Im glad meditation helps you to become one with yourself and understand yourself more, keep up the blog and keep us all upto date.

ReplyDeleteGiven the activities you have carried out this week, I hope you can, or start to, fulfil the actions of the wise words above. Sone people think that meditation can take time away from physical accomplishments; by reaping the benefits of meditation you will find you have actually created time...
With clarity of mind power, you can now soar through your intended aims with will power and achieve your goals of your project with conviction. Keep it up Rosie :)

For meditation Control over certain things like the tamas and rajas gunas, food, sleep is extremely essential requirement. As its perfectly said by Shri.Krishna in geeta " Mind must be tamed like taming the shrew". But its a vast topic to comment on. Do read articles by Shri.Ramkrishna paramhansa, Swami vivekanand, Swami Yoganand (author of autobiography of a yogi), Sri aurobindo, The mother and over all THE BHAGWAD GITA. When one inculcates in himself the things he talks about , he does not need anybody to comment on anything. He is himself enough to be an example to set the footsteps.
