The confidence to share Hindu culture at the office + samosa

This is a fantastic story and motivation for us...
---
Namaste all,

Hope you are well and enjoying the festive season.

I wanted to share with you a recent experience with my work colleagues, who asked me why I wasn't off work for Eid?!  For those who know me well you can guess my reaction to this.  Anyway, through this conversation I realised how very little they know about our religion, most of them live in predominantly 'white' areas of Yorkshire and for many I'm probably their only Hindu friend.

So to educate my colleagues I have decided to organise a quiz event on Hinduism.  I'm hoping this will create a fun learning atmosphere with a competitive edge as the prize will be lovely homemade food, which everyone loves. :)

I thought it would be good to share this with you all and perhaps you can also implement this in your work places, or do something similar during our festive period.  I have attached a copy of the general Hinduism quiz, which is pretty basic, but feel free to tweak it as you see fit.

Shubh Deepavali and Nutan varsh na abhinandan.

Pranaam,
Falguni

and here are the quiz questions
 -----
And then the line manager sent a follow up summary email out to the team...

As a team we scored 11/15.

Hinduism is the third largest and the oldest religion in the world. It originated in India and the main Holy Scripture is the Vedas which is written in Sanskrit.

The Hindu greeting, Namaste, translates to 'The divine in me honours the divine in you'.

Diwali, which is currently being celebrated is the festival of lights.

In Hinduism there is only one God, however, there are many manifestations of this God such as Lord Ganesha who has the head of an elephant.

Hindu's worship in the Mandir. Their most sacred word is Om. Hinduism has a law of cause and effect routed in its philosophy, this is called Karma.

Hinduism is responsible for the global phenomenon of Yoga, now practised by millions of people not dependant on their religion.

Now you know, I'm sure we'll get 15/15 next year.
